Great article just one minor point. The US "one China" does not acknowledge that Taiwan is part of China but rather that we recognize one government of China at a time. Seems odd now and is diplomatic double talk but at the time there were 2 competing governments claiming to rule Beijing.
The Chinese are quite aware of our inability to deal with them thus the bluster. Not at all sure they really want to take on Taiwan, ever, except peacefully via propaganda. Pity that Pelosi, et al, decided to create a political show. Now some face saving is needed.
the way i see it is we need to put a carrier group off the Taiwan coast and tell China to acknowledge Taiwan once and for all and tell Taiwan your not getting the mainland back.
If communist China does threats we immediately default on loans and seize all property owned by Chines Nationals. and tell them get with the program or else.
I'm pretty sure their Armies are in no better shape than Russia's Armies are.
When Corruption is the number one way to make money something is going to be lacking and judging by Russia's abysmal performance in Ukraine i am sure China wont perform any better.
we may be Warmongers but we have the experience and if our leaders have the balls we can win just about any conflict around. middle East was another poor choice and ultimately we left it in about the same ruin it was in if not worse.

I got an entirely different take on Pelosi's visit and the threats from China that might shoot down her plane if escorted by US fighter jets.
It seemed to me the administration gave in and accepted China's claims over Taiwan.
