If you regularly shop or venture in the same locations you will notice a slowdown. Go to Sam's or Costco gasoline pumps and you will see smaller lines instead of the 15 to 20 min wait, at least in Northern VA. In Maryland I shop at this Dutch store and there is a butcher counter. They have 6 counter help and sometimes more. The lines are long but not yesterday. The butcher usually happily greets me but I can see the troubled face and he lost at least 10 pounds which I could see in his face. I asked about business and he just zombie like said people are trying to figure it out. Walmart too doesn't have the traffic, at least in the stores I go to. The 2nd quarter will be a contraction and 3rd even worse at this trend. Gas has stalled at $5.
